Kimi Pass
(Kimitoge)
From the old days, this pass was used to link Kawachi area to Kishū region. In the Edo period, Kimi pass was a domain of the Kishū feudal clan. In the first year of Keian period (1648), the feudal clan established here a post station of horses (denmasho). Afterwards, the village grew with many Japanese style hotels called “ryokan” and special tea houses called “chaya”, flourishing with many travelers.
