Shimizu-ido well
The origin of the place name of Shimizu Village is due to the “Shimizu-i” (well of clear water) that sprang out along the Kōya Kaido. At present, it only remains the one at the side wall in the former national route No.371. It was also called “Futatsu Ido” (two wells). It was said to be a special magic water (Okajisui) of the Kōbo Daishi (Kukai), that was used by the people in the neighborhood and by the travelers.
