Kōsatsu-ba Ruins
(place to display a highly raised bulletin board)
During the Edo period, these places were settled in crossroads or end of bridges, in road junctions, places to take a boat for crossing the river, in the sekisho checkpoints, etc. where there was a lot of transit, to display prohibitions or regulations on highly raised boards so that many people could see them.
